Hello everyone! A happy belated new year to you all, as I realize this is the first time I'll be writing a journal entry this year. On New Year's Day I opened a new RP on tumblr, so naturally that consumed a large portion of my free time. It was during this that something magical happened - first, the RP main blog gained more followers in a few weeks than I did in a year or two. Second, I was commissioned for the very first time.
Well, not entirely the first time. I was commissioned as a part of my class back in high school to do a mural, but a) I wasn't paid and b) it wasn't solo. But, someone who was auditioning for a role saw the character art I'd done for other roles and wanted me to design theirs as well.
As a person who has very aggressively stated on multiple occasions that she's "just a hobbyist", this moment took me by surprise. I was shocked that someone wanted to pay me for my art! See, I'd previously been existing in this toxic state of mine that my art wasn't worth actual money, because I only ever really drew people and because it was primarily sketching, nothing polished or pretty. This commission sort of woke me up.
The commission itself was not an exciting or dramatic process; I sketched it out, ran it by the customer, inked and coloured it and then began the anxious "will they pay me" freak out session until they actually did, at which point I revelled in the glory of having sold my first piece of art. And that's when I got to thinking, "Maybe I can do commissions and make that a thing that I do".
Yeah, my thought process is not very coherent.
On that note, I'm highly tempted to open commissions for my first time as a deviant. Seeing as my speciality is character sketches, I probably won't stray too far past that - but hey, you never know what might happen, and I'm always up for learning how to draw new things. If anyone's interested, let me know! If I get a lot of people asking, I'll create a guideline of sorts for pricing, content, style, etc.
Whoops this turned into a long entry. Call it "bottled up thoughts after a long semi-hiatus".
Until next time!

Hello!!!
It's been such a long time, really - I'm so sorry, I hope you've all been well. For a long time I wasn't really feeling the love in this community, which is largely my own fault for focusing so much on the negatives... working on that. In addition to that, my tablet stopped working, I lost a lot of confidence in my work, I started focusing on real life problems - in other words, art got pushed to the back burner for a while and I was a very sad person for a bit.
But I'm back! I finally got a new tablet, which I might very well be writing a positive review for soon because Huion has very quickly shown me they can go toe-to-toe with Wacom p
Oh my god.
I swear I'm still alive, oh lord, hello there.
I sort of forgot dA existed for a while. And then I just kind of ... yeah. Sorry. Still alive! Still here. Posting very little these days because I've been sick and I just sort of ... haven't really been able to create much. Anything I have been able to draw has gone straight to my Tumblr. Might see if I can upload a bit here just to dust off a bit.

Hello friends!
I know it's been a while, lately I've been growing more and more distant from my deviantart account. In moving out, I've basically devoted my life to two things - school and work, both of which manage to take up the entirety of my week. Weekends are usually spent on tumblr, doing homework, or playing video games. As you might expect, that doesn't leave a lot of time open for drawing anything that I feel deserves to be mounted on dA.
If any of my watchers/mutuals still check their messages, I'm far more active on my art blog if ever you want to continue creeping my art. Most of it's just doodles made at work, but occasionally I'll post so
